Breathing and Light- to Vigorous-Intensity Aerobic Exercises Improved Respiratory Functions and Functional Capacity of COVID-19 Survivor with Morbid Obesity

Introduction: A decrease in respiratory functions (RF) and functional capacity (FC) may present as complications of intensive care unit (ICU) admission. Morbid obesity worsens these complications. Case: 31-year-old male patient with morbid came for pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) one week after hospitalization. He suffered from COVID-19 received 15 days mechanical ventilation. The goal PR was to improve RF FC. comprehensive PR, including hospital- home-based programs, consisting breathing, aerobic, resistance, flexibility exercises, diet psychological counseling given. Breathing exercises were deep sustained-maximal chest expansion. Hospital-based given moderate-intensity interval aerobic exercise (AE), while low-intensity continuous, both oxygen supplementation. FC needed do his daily activities, vocational 1.0 6.3 metabolic equivalents (METs). target 6 METs 12-18 weeks set. After six weeks, the improved decreased dyspnea increased maximum inspiratory volume 4.2 METs, monitored-home-based AE vigorous-intensity mode. joined residency program 10 later achieved 5.7 at end PR. We gave unsupervised long-term exercise. Conclusion: a admitted previous activities.
